Opensource…

We have been brewing beer since about 2009. It started, the same as many others I am sure, with two friends who just thought it would be cool to make their own beer, but, after our first batch the idea grew in to wouldn’t it be cool to own a brewery. The reason that I bring this up is that it lead to us writing down and documenting almost everything we did or thought. We wanted to be able to reference back and grow in the areas that we were weak. Now, years later, this has given us the opportunity to realize just how much we didn’t know. Also, how much of what we didn’t know that we were willing to talk about like we actually did know. I think the concept is best described here by SMBC.

I am not saying that I would liked to have done it different and I am sure that in the years to come I will always look back to see a less experienced or knowledgeable me acting in the fashion that can only be attributed to a complete lack of understanding of the subject. In short, the past me will always embarrass the present me, who in turn will embarrass the future me. This is of course unless I become dumber over time…. but, back to my point. What I am getting at here is that our goal with the “opensource” idea is to provide information so that you, the start-up brewer, can hopefully avoid some of the  missteps we have taken over the years.

Have no doubt, we will not be able to cover every step from the home brewer to the brewery. It is simply not possible to cover everything. Also, I apologize if the information provided here is inaccurate and turns out to be a hindrance instead of a help. Take it at your own risk. It is given freely, and in good intent, so that you can use your intelligence to determine if it is quality.

If you have a concern or need further clarification on a subject please email us. We will try to respond timely with what we know, or at least what we think we know.
